The result of a Romanian and Hungarian collaboration organised by the Universities of Debrecen and Cluj-Napoca, this volume deals with the question of tolerance, firstly in reference to the relationship between ethic-linguistic majorities and minorities in Central Europe during the XIX and XX centuries. The fresco that emerges takes on even greater depth thanks to the series of chapters concerning tolerance and intolerance in the politics of other European countries – from Russia to Iceland – from the late Medieval to the present day.
